When the clock struck midnight, Ethan Whitmore opened the door to his enormous home. The day had felt endless: meetings, difficult decisions, admiring looks he barely noticed anymore. All he wanted was silence.
But the house wasn’t silent.
Instead, he heard steady breathing, an almost imperceptible murmur… and two tiny breaths moving in the same rhythm. Intrigued, he slowly followed the unexpected sound toward the living room.

On the carpet, illuminated by the soft glow of a lamp, the housekeeper was asleep, still wearing her turquoise uniform. Nestled against her were his six-month-old twins.
