“Tell me your card PIN. Mom is at the store and wants to buy a phone.”
My husband woke me up at seven in the morning, but neither he nor his mother could have imagined the surprise I had prepared for them. 😲🫣
We had been married for almost three years, and throughout that time, I had become completely exhausted.
I worked from morning until night, supported our household, bought the groceries, paid the bills, and covered every expense — while my husband didn’t even try to find a job.
Before we got married, he took occasional jobs here and there. But once we started living together, for some reason he decided that it was now my responsibility to support him.
But the worst part was his mother.
She believed her son was supposed to provide her with everything: gifts, clothes, medicine, trips, and whatever else she happened to want.
In her mind, her son should pay for all of it.
And she didn’t seem to care that “his money” was actually mine.
My salary.
The money I worked for every single day.
The money I earned at the cost of one sleepless night after another and the exhaustion that kept building.
My husband regularly gave his mother the money I earned. He bought her gifts and transferred money to her as if he were spending his own salary.
And I stayed silent.
I put up with it because I kept telling myself that family required compromise and that relationships shouldn’t be ruined over money.

But lately, they had gone too far.
My mother-in-law had started messaging me almost every day, telling me what she needed: cosmetics, a new blouse, help with her mortgage payments.
My husband kept reminding me that “Mom deserves to live well.”
And me?
To them, I was simply a wallet.
That day was my only day off. For once, I could finally get some sleep.
I had barely closed my eyes when the bedroom door opened.
My husband abruptly pulled the blanket off me, leaned over, and spoke to me as though I were his personal servant:
“Quick, give me the PIN to your card. Mom is at the store and wants to buy a new phone.”
I lay there for a few moments, barely understanding what was happening.
He knew perfectly well that I had been paid the day before and hadn’t spent a single cent of my salary yet.
I turned toward him and calmly said:
“Let her buy it with her own money.”
That was when he exploded.
He started yelling that I was greedy, that I didn’t respect his mother, and that “Mom deserves the best.”
He insulted me, threatened me, and demanded that I give him the PIN.
And at that moment, I realized one thing: enough.
I wasn’t going to keep silently putting up with everything or keep trying to save a relationship at any cost when I was being treated this way.
I had a plan.
A very quiet one.
A very simple one.
And I knew it would have serious consequences for them.
I gave him the PIN.
But afterward, I did something I don’t regret at all. 😱😨
He left immediately, looking pleased with himself. He didn’t even thank me.
I closed my eyes and waited for the notification from the bank.
As soon as I saw the transaction — almost my entire paycheck had been spent on his mother’s new phone — I got up, picked up my phone, and called the police.
“My card was used without my consent,” I said calmly. “The money was spent without my authorization. Yes, I know the address of the person who made the purchase. Yes, I’m ready to give a statement.”
A few hours later, my mother-in-law was detained at her home.
She had the phone that had been purchased using money from my card.
She was taken to the police station, where she tried to explain that “her son had given permission.”
But the card was in my name.
The payment had been made without my consent.
So the situation could have legal consequences for her.
And my husband…
My husband came rushing home furious, shouting that I had ruined his mother’s life.
Without saying a word, I packed his belongings, put his suitcase outside the door, and told him:
“You’ve been living at my expense for three years. Enough. From now on, support your mother yourself.”
Then I shut the door in his face.
